Thrifty Threads

Value Village top, Levi’s shorts, H&M shoes, Value Village bag, Marc Jacobs sunglasses

This whole outfit is very “thrifty”. Either from value Village or on heavy sale, or found a discount store. I love a good deal! I like to invest in key pieces that will last me forever but when it comes to “trends” finding them at a deal is important. I’ve been really into this gingham trend lately and found this top at VV boutique and I was so surprised to find this piece there. It’s definitely an at home made piece, no tags or branding which made me want to buy it even more. I’m really into the floral detailing, it reminds me of something you would find on the Revolve website. Through blogging lately I’ve noticed how much of my wardrobe is either from VV or thrifted of which I love. I think all together this entire outfit cost less than $50! Win.

Just so happens these are the same shoes and same brand of dress from a recent post. I have found this brand Patrons of Peace at Winners lately and I fell in love. I searched it and it’s a wholesale brand which makes me sad because I can’t purchase off their website but gives me hope I will find somewhere that sells the brand. It’s super bohemian, yet whimsical and girly. Their dresses fit well because they understand a woman’s body, and are just super comfortable.

On this particular night I was headed to the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers show at the ACC so I wanted to be comfortable getting up and down from sitting and dancing. The ACC is freezing so the length worked in my favour. The billowy nature of the dress also helped in my favour after we ate everything at Figo, a delicious Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown.

Figo is a hidden gem. Their patio is like an escape with the beautiful decor of white, gold and green;  and all the palm leaves surrounding you.  Inside the decor is so crisp and clean the look of the restaurant alone made me want to eat there. Now the food. We had this unreal fresh house ricotta with truffle honey and black pepper. If you appreciate cheese and really good food and drinks this is a great date spot for a drink and a delicious appetizer. If you’re feeling hungry then defintely dive into a pasta or pizza. We had the gnocchi with fresh basil and tomatoes and also shared the wild boar ragu. A tad loud with the fire station next to it but when you’re not hearing the sound of sirens it’s a great spot if you’re heading to a show or movie in the area.

Little Red Dress- Winners Fab Finds

Sometimes I think of myself as the Winners queen. I find serious gems there and all at a great price. It’s hard to want to shop for quality pieces but not always being able to afford those high price tags that come along with well made garments. Winners makes that available to the average fashionista; ie me! I love Winners. Honestly I find it calming, which is probably an insane thing to hear, but for me sifting through the racks on my own time is like an alcoholic having a drink. It fills a void for me. It inspires me. Even if I’m not buying anything it allows me to get a feel for fabric, learning different sizing and seeing what trends are coming in and out.

This particular outfit combo I wore for my birthday out to dinner with the boy to Enoteca Sociale in Toronto’s West Side.  Their patio is so beautiful it feels like you’re in Shakespeares forest in A Midnight’s Summer Dream; also duh the food is delicious. We Shared the arancini, of which you can order as many or as little as you like and I find that perfect, and the beef crudo for starters. If you are a fan of tartare I would say run there to try it, it’s unreal. As for our mains we shared two fresh pasta dishes, the Cavatelli Di Ricotta which was probably one of the lightest most delicious pestos I’ve ever had, and the Tortellini In Brodo which was a braised lamb and lemon filled pasta in a buttery broth. I can’t even explain how delicious and rich this was yet so light at the same time. It reminded me of the broth filled dumplings I had at Din Tai Fung. My man topped off the night with a hot sticky toffee pudding and went to bed with a food coma. My man is a friggin keeper I tell ya.

Sk8-hi

Band tee, H&M shorts, Vans Sk8-Hi shoes, Zara sunglasses, Kate + Alex Cuffaro backpack via Winners

I may not be a skateboarder but I love these shoes. The vans Sk8-Hi’s are inspired by the low top classic Old Skool style, of which will be my next purchase but with the platform “creeper” type soul. I am a shoe girl. That’s my thing. Some girls like bags, sunglasses but I buy shoes the most. Vans are some of my favourite shoes on the market. They’re super comfy, a good price point, and go with everything when I’m going for a casual look.

Every stylish gal and guy are rocking sneakers more than anything on their feet these days. It’s hard to walk down the street and not spot stylish sneakers like a runway/conveyor belt wanting to purchase every pair that passes by; and Vans Sk8-Hi’s, Old Skool Classics, or checkered slip-ons happen to be on 90% of those feet it seems. So like Missy, Vans are the poo so take a big whiff.
