There’s no outfit I enjoy more than jeans and a tee and if that tee so happens to make a statement well then heck! I remember as a kid I used to sit around and think about what life would be like if we walked around naked and clothes were strange; didn’t we all? I wonder though if we weren’t so shy about our bodies and much more open about sex and nudity would we have the same awful things happen to women like sexual harassment either physical or verbal? There are many other cultures where women and men both wear practically nothing and are not sexualized the same. Instead of the body being this erotic piece of meat, they are looked at solely as a life giving source. These women make babies, feed them from their breast openly without hesitation and do all their daily work while the girls hang out. I used to work at Joe Fresh and we had a complaint from a woman that got kicked out of a change room because it was needed for someone to try on clothes, meanwhile she was trying to find a quiet spot to feed her child. I had never been so appalled that someone I worked with would do that to a woman in a vulnerable state. And on the other hand I’m sad how women have been ‘trained’ to hide the act of breastfeeding and either put a blanket over themselves or go to a washroom or change room in this instance. I’ve seen women whip it out with no coverage and men stare. MEN!

I’ve only worn this shirt once, and that was for this photo shoot/video I took for my Youtube channel. Isn’t that wild that I feel nervous to wear a shirt with boobs printed on it!? I’m just afraid of the stares and comments I’ll get.

I’m going to stop ranting now, I just had an opinion. Can you tell me if you ever thought about a world where we were naked and clothes were weird? Like somewhere in middle school, or was it just me?

I have always admired Aritzia’s approach to merchandising. Their window displays always have a creative and fresh backdrop to their uncomplicated and simply-styled outfits. They recently have been adding a large, light scarf draped over one shoulder on a mannequin here and there as well as I’ve seen it carry over onto the merchandisers themselves. Though it’s not the most functional way of wearing a scarf, it adds a quirky and unique vibe to the outfit that quite admire.

And speaking of scarves, I’m pretty much a hoarder when it comes to them. I own only a million in all sizes, colours and prints. I tie them on bags as well as my neck. I’ve been collecting since forever, starting with vintage silk scarves. They may not be everyone’s favourite accessory, and I wouldn’t go as far as saying they’re my favourite (it’s probably shoes), but I would have to say I am wearing one about 90% of the time in some way, shape or form.

Leather Pants, 3 Ways

Office Casual

Sure, not all of those stuffy corporate offices will open their minds to leather pants as appropriate attire, but we’re creative types and that’s just not our thang! If you work in an office that allows you to fashionably express yourself, even if it is on a casual friday, then leather pants can work for you. They have instant edge, drama and high fashion. Keep it simple with basics. I paired it with a modernly cut white sweater and subdued sexy heels that still add  sophistication but with a pointed toe fashion edge. Your cubicle neighbour will be jealous and you’ll be noted as the office trend setter. They’ll also drool over this scarf. The price is unreal, they won’t believe you when you tell them. Everyone can be trendy that’s on a budget-I pride myself in finding great pieces at great prices (email me if you ever need budget shopping tips or tours).

Day Off

Ok, so if like I mentioned above you work in a corporate office, then you’re saving your sexy pants for the weekend. An easy carry over into the night out (see below) with the swipe of a red lip and silk topper. For a casual day off, I paired mine with the ultimate plaid from Joe Fresh. It looks vintage, is super soft, the colour is beyond amazing and did  I mention I basically haven’t taken it off? Also, can we observe these shoes?! I am obsessed. The comfort is deceiving as they look stiff, but unlike Doc Martens that you need to break in, these are instant loving foot huggers. The cherry red that slightly ombre’s darker is the colour of the season, along with the menswear inspired look and block heel. These are the ultimate shoes and not quite as much of an investment as Docs. Run to Zara, before it’s too late!

Night Out

Who said you can’t wear a dress over pants? Well, I have forever….until I played around with this one. I bought this dress at H&M at the beginning of summer because the price was out of this world, but I’ve yet to wear it. I am waiting for the perfect night to wear it as such. I tucked in the inner slip and let the see-through top lay over romantically.I also am loving the navy with the black. I don’t usually, as I’ve mentioned I’m scarred after being called a bruise, but because it is so simple I enjoy the impact it’s making; besides, it’s fashion rules are meant to be broken! Paired with a side swept bun, sexy vintage snakeskin clutch no one will have, a red lip and thin arm bands that make the biggest impact (try it then email me how many people adore the trend or are just taking notice). Play with fashion. Fashion is your rule book, your style is how you break the rules.

Empire State of Mind

DSCF6421Joe Fresh Tee, DIY Jeans (even more distressed, last seen here), Coach Sandals, Ray-Ban Sunnies, Vintage and Custom Necklaces, Guess Watch

I have this obsession with oversized tee’s and the way that guys wear them. The last guy I dated always wore plain tees, usually black, with the sleeves rolled up. I didn’t realize how much that inspired me until I bought this tee, in a size larger than I normally would have. I also don’t generally buy/own tees, let alone graphic tees, but I felt this one was a good leeway into buying more as the colour and print are pretty subdued.

These pants were last seen many posts ago. I wore them a few times after I distressed them but then again folded them into the back of my closet. So, true to self to make things ‘wearable’ again, I brought out the scissors. I’ve seen these jeans everywhere lately, cut off and frayed at the bottom; thus I’ve since gone and cropped  (taken scissors to) a bunch of other jeans I don’t wear. I love the way they look with a short heeled bootie, strappy heels and/or strappy flat sandals.
