H&M kimono, DIY sweater (Halloween Costume), Joe Fresh jeans, PUMA shoes, Marc Jacobs Sunglasses
I recently saw on Instagram a girl wearing a kimono over a sweater and I was instantly inspired. I love mixing elements of my closet to create looks that wouldn’t necessarily make sense if you wrote them down, but put them on and somehow this casual dressy mix really works; ie the kimono sweater combo. Of course depending on your lifestyle, job etc it’s not as easy to wear a sweater to work, but I would say this is perfect weekend wear. Off to brunch? Don’t want to look like a total slob but you’ve worked hard all week and feel lazy? Well girl keep that sweater on and find a cute kimono to layer on top for some added class and style. Your outfit will go from couch potato to breakfast hash brown appropriate in a second.
Honestly I think Kimonos are a super cool way to dress up any outfit and are super handy to have in your closet. I wear mine when I’m going out with jeans and a plain tank top and it’s given me that confidence I need to feel going out ‘apro-pros’. Getting a legit kimono can be harder to come by, I suggest vintage shopping and shelling out the extra bucks for something legit and unique. If you aren’t a savvy vintage hunter then stores like Anthropologie,Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Zara always have items like this as they’re hot on the trend game always. I’ve linked these store above with some of my fave kimonos I spotted on their site.
If you know me you know all I wear is denim. It’s basically my second layer of skin, although unhealthy denim could be pyjamas for me.Because I wear denim everyday, I like to fancy it up here a there so topping it off with some silk and an outrageous pair of
Jackie O inspired sunnies helps my denim life from feeling stale. I don’t gravitate to dresses or skirts very often, I just don’t feel like I can be myself and makes getting dressed for special events that much more special. I have loads of denim: ripped, skinny, light wash, white, snakeskin etc and yet I never tried the “jegging” style. Joe Fresh makes jeggings every year. They aren’t your typical jegging where it’s a legging painted to look like denim, it’s denim with a wholeeee lot of stretch. I could do the splits in these pants if I wanted to, I’ve also taken a nap in them once or twice (accidentally of course). If you don’t love denim because you find it’s uncomfortable I highly suggest popping into Joe Fresh and trying out their jegging styles-even Thanksgiving dinner is no match for these pants!
I’m all about the graphic Tee, but I mentioned here it’s hard to find the right ones. I’ve been finding a couple here and there that are oversized, but this one just so happens to have been found in the men’s section! I always forget to look and remembered to check on my way out of Winners the other day and found this over-sized gem. Really into the RUN DMC vibe, though I wish is said T.O. not NYC; but beggers can’t be choosers. So that’s my shopping tip for today: Men’s section, they always have perfect graphic tees.
Now till the day I “Run NYC”. Dream big or go home, right?
