“It’s so hard to be cute” is a statement I hear from friends all Winter long. Even though it’s been -25 degrees or worse out here in Canada I am really trying to be “cute” this year. I invested in a few good coats that are still warm and lots of trendy accessories to amp up my jeans and plain turtlenecks. I generally wear a lot of the same thing everyday as I’ve said many times before, so my best piece of advice is to invest in the accessory department; great coats with beautiful prints and details, bright and bold hats, scarves and gloves, and funky warm winter boots. It’s all in the small details that will set you apart from a sea of black puffer coats!
Red is having a serious moment right now, and I am in, I love a good punch of a power colour. I found this photo flipping through pictures from NY Fashion Week on the Harpers Bazaar website and this one jumped out at me because it’s the perfect transition outfit and she’s wearing a kimono and if you know me you know I’m obsessed with kimonos. Any sort of “from bed to the street chic” I really dig; it’s all about comfort to me. I really like the mix of colours most for this particular outfit. Her caramel turtleneck and matching brown hued bag, with white pumps to match the white lining on her red wrap jacket paired with raw hemmed denim, effortless details!
Summer is coming to an end which means when I’m out all day and into the night I find myself wearing jeans and a lighter top to get me through the shift in temperature from the hot sun to cool evenings. I love this look; super casual, a touch of girly girl and yet just enough chic to bring you effortlessly from a lunch meeting to a surprise dinner date. I would carry a light jacket in my bag and maybe a pair or earrings and a lipstick if I knew I may be out all day running around in an outfit like this possibly into the night; as mentioned before…you never know what the day may bring!
